Western Australian Construction Businesses Can Get Up to $10,000 to Sponsor Skilled Migrants

Construction Visa Subsidy Program (CVSP)

The CVSP is a new program that provides grants of up to $10,000 to support Western Australian construction businesses to fill the demand for a skilled workforce.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the CVSP, employers must:

Sponsor a skilled migrant in one of the following visa subclasses: 482, 494, or 186.
Be headquartered and undertaking building and construction work in Western Australia, in an eligible occupation.
How to apply

If you are an employer, you can apply for the CVSP in two ways:

Employer Sponsored Stream: If you are sponsoring one or more skilled migrants, you can apply for the Employer Sponsored Stream. You will need to complete a claim form and agree to the terms and conditions of the program.
State Nominated Stream: If you are an employer who has already sponsored a skilled migrant through the WA State Nominated Migration Program (SNMP), you can apply for the State Nominated Stream. You will need to complete a claim form and provide evidence that the skilled migrant is employed by you and working in an eligible occupation.
How to claim payments

You can claim payments for the CVSP in three milestones:

Milestone 1: After the skilled migrant has lodged their visa application.
Milestone 2: After the skilled migrant’s visa has been granted.
Milestone 3: After the skilled migrant has commenced employment with you and received their first payslip.
