According to Mohave Community College spokesman James Jarmon, enrollment appears to be stable, with Lake Havasu City’s campus providing for about 1,000 of MCC’s enrollment throughout Mohave County.
“We’re looking forward to a successful school year,” Jarmon said. “We’re looking forward to see more students enroll, with increasing engagement with the community”
Jarmon is hoping to further spread awareness of what MCC offers in Havasu and in communities throughout Mohave County. Among the college’s benefits are an online curriculum, offering flexibility to potential students who work full-time jobs; as well as twelve-week, self-paced courses that students can complete in as little as one month, Jarmon said.
Mohave Community College was one of three programs throughout the U.S. to receive such accreditation, despite having been available only two years at MCC. The college has a nearly 100 percent job placement rate for surgical technology graduates.
The college is promoting Surgical Technology week Sept. 18-24 for students and visitors who may be interested in learning more about the program.
According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the growth rate for surgical technicians is expected to reach 15 percent by 2024. The medium annual income for a surgical technician is $45,000.
